USASEAN Announces New ASEAN-U.S. S&T Fellows Program

The U.S. Mission to ASEAN announces the new ASEAN-U.S. Science and Technology Fellows Pilot Program, which is aimed at strengthening capacity for science-based policy-making in ASEAN.  ASEAN scientists will work directly with policymakers in ASEAN Member State ministries to bring the best available science to inform the policymaking process; liaise between government officials and the scientific community; and, engage in other activities that advance the use of science in addressing ASEAN Member State and ASEAN priorities.  Fellows can apply to work on one of the following issues for the Fellowship year: health, climate change, food security, early warning systems for disaster risk reduction, water management, and biodiversity.  The Pilot Program is aimed at early-career scientists who can apply this experience to the benefit of his/her overall career goals. Applications are due on January 6, 2014. Read more in our InnovASEAN blog about the program; and for more information, please contact Dr. Montira Pongsiri at
