YSEALI members are making a difference. In the coming weeks, we will feature young leaders across the ASEAN region who have participated in YSEALI programs and show how joining this community has helped them grow professionally and personally.

“Education is the most important task in my life,” Yutthakrit Chalermthai says as he explains why he decided to join Teach For Thailand. To him, “providing knowledge means giving opportunity … the opportunity for students to choose their own lives.”
Yutthakrit says that as a teacher he is proud to see so many young people passionate about improving education in Thailand. His own journey began when he received a YES scholarship to spend a year at a U.S. secondary school. That experience was a “turning point in how I look at education,” he says. Now, as a YSEALI participant, he is working on a project to create jobs for parents in and around their homes so that they can spend more time with their children, because, as he explains, “Efforts to improve education will not succeed without family support.”
Yutthakrit’s tips for success:
- Know yourself: What can you do?
- Know your community: What do you want to change?
- Know your interests: What are you passionate about?
