U.S.-ASEAN Connect, USASEAN’s Public Affairs team, and the U.S.-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) hosted a promotion event on December 6 to highlight the U.S.-ASEAN Internship Program. Participants filled the high-tech @america venue in Jakarta, with a capacity crowd of over 200 Indonesian students and 20 Malaysian students (from Kelantan via DVC) for practical training on interviewing strategies for internships. Embassy Jakarta’s Regional English Language Officer gave practical advice and interviewing tips and recruiters from GE and Apple put the students through their paces in mock interviews. Representatives from USABC demonstrated the internship program’s website – a joint creation of U.S.-ASEAN Connect and USABC – which highlights internship opportunities at U.S. companies in the region. Deputy Secretary General AKP Mochtan from the ASEAN Secretariat opened the event with a keynote speech.
