What is it?
YSEALI Seeds for the Future is a small grants competition for young leaders in Southeast Asia. The competition provides funding for the region’s most promising young leaders to carry out projects that improve their communities, countries and the region. Projects cover one of the four YSEALI themes:
- Civic Engagement
- Economic Empowerment and Social Entrepreneurship
- Education
- Environmental Issues

YSEALI Seeds for the Future – Projects of the Month
Sekolah Adat Arus Kualan, or the Customary School Arus Kualan, is a project led by young Dayak leaders in West Kalimantan, Indonesia. They have taught 138 students so far, with the goal of creating a generation that values and protects the Dayak culture. The school emphasizes learning from traditional indigenous knowledge in various fields, such as environmental issues, social relations, art, and literature.
