Embassy Rangoon and US ASEAN Connect organized a one-day workshop in Naypyitaw on cyber security and data governance. The workshop was the first of the year’s events for Connect’s Digital Economy Series, bringing together U.S. business and ASEAN policymakers to discuss key digital economy issues. The workshop had strong participation and interest from Myanmar officials as they draft a new cyber law. Private sector representatives from Cisco and the U.S. ICT Council joined leading Myanmar cyber officials and the Myanmar business community to cover data governance and cyber best practices. Connect Director delivered a presentation on developing a cyber framework for creating or improving cyber security programs based on work by the U.S. National Institute for Standards and Technology.
