Defining Democracy at Paramadina University

Group Photo (Mission Image)Jakarta – Acknowledging that many democracies in the region are “works in progress,” Ambassador Carden and twenty undergraduate international relations students at Paramadina University held a lively discussion on the roles that globalization, human empowerment, education, connectivity, labor, free trade, corruption, tax reform, inequality, and other issues play in the development of democratic systems. The Ambassador called attention to changes that are facing the region, and he invited the students to add their voices to the conversations on how to meet those challenges.
