Jakarta, Indonesia – 10 June 2019
The U.S. Mission to ASEAN hosts the Women’s Leadership Academy for Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) for its fifth year with implementing partner Wedu, an organization specializing in developing female leadership. The Academy serves as a platform to connect and inspire women leaders across Southeast Asia.
From 10 – 14 June 2019, thirty-three leaders will unite in Jakarta to expand the network and continue the journey of empowering women to thrive professionally and personally. This year is the first time that the Academy selected participants through a call for application, and these leaders have been chosen from over 1,000 applications in total.
Throughout the five-day Academy, they will learn from international mentors and speakers representing organizations from different industries, including Procter & Gamble, Amartha, Save the Philippines Seas, and Ambassadors to ASEAN from Canada, Thailand, Singapore and New Zealand. It will also feature a visit to a multinational company, Unilever Indonesia, to observe their efforts in digital transformation and women inclusion. Focusing on economic development in ASEAN, the academy will explore topics related to goal setting, professional assessment, entrepreneurship, personal branding, and the role of women in global and local leadership. The Academy will facilitate conversations among these leaders and prompt action in creating greater impact in their communities and on the global stage.
Having completed the Academy, they will join YSEALI’s constantly growing network and become part of the Women’s Leadership Academy Alumni group. Since 2015, the U.S. Mission to ASEAN has brought together over 190 women leaders to enhance their leadership potential and build a strong network around Southeast Asia.
