July 9-13, 2012 was a very busy week in Cambodia, with the U.S. Mission to ASEAN actively involved in numerous meetings and conferences in both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, including the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF), East Asia Summit (EAS) Ministerial, US-ASEAN Business Summit, and several Lower Mekong Initiative (LMI) events.  We further welcomed U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to the ASEAN region, participating in her fourth U.S.-ASEAN post-ministerial conference as well as several bi-lateral meetings with regional leaders.

During this time period, the U.S. State Department issued a number of documents outlining U.S. engagement in the ASEAN region, including:

U.S.-China Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific Region

Fact Sheet on Asia-Pacific Strategic Engagement Initiative (APSEI)

2012 U.S. Engagement in the ASEAN Regional Forum

US Economic Engagement with ASEAN

During the visit, Secretary Clinton said, “The United States is committed to our partnership [with ASEAN], and we welcome the contributions of other ASEAN dialogue partners, and we are invested in the future peace, stability, and prosperity of this region. We look forward to many more collaborative activities with our partners in ASEAN for years to come.”
